Brewers and Packers and Bucks…Oh My!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…the holiday season? Not quite yet, but it’s a great time to be a Wisconsin sports fan! So many sports, so little time: it’s Wisconsin Badger football season, the Packers are playing every weekend in Green Bay, the Milwaukee Bucks’ season is up and running in the Fiserv Forum the Milwaukee Brewers made the playoffs! “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” had a whole new meaning in Milwaukee and we all got to enjoy it!

But before we get to professional sports, let’s talk college football. If you’ve never been to Badger game day in Madison, you don’t know what you’re missing. The capital comes alive as throngs of fans wearing red flock to Camp Randall to see the Badgers play. Walking down State Street on game day, it feels like they planned a party and someone put a football game in the mix. Big Ten games often do sell out, but Badger tickets are still available for many games. Be sure to stay after the game for the Badger Band’s Fifth Quarter performance and make the Badger Marching Band the star of your gameday. The Band marches down State Street prior to every game with Bucky giving high fives and taking selfies with students and fans.

A new state of the art stadium and a team that makes watching basketball tons of fun are just two of the many reasons to check out a Milwaukee Bucks Basketball game. The new Fiserv Forum is not only cool looking, it’s a great new addition to downtown, according to this rundown of 9 Reasons to Hang Out at the Fiserv Forum by OnMilwaukee.

Wisconsin Sports fans have an almost cult-like obsession with their teams, and the shrine for that cult has to be Lambeau Field. Game Day at Lambeau is an awesome experience complete with tailgates from basic to elaborate, chests and faces painted green and gold and thousands of fans bonding over their love of one of the most storied teams in the NFL. Join the fun and get ready to yell, “Go Pack Go!” all day long! Even if you aren’t a Packers fan, possibly even if you hate football, this historic landmark is only a couple of hours away from Milwaukee, and it’s a great day trip. Hate crowds? Avoid Packer Sundays and plan a tour of Lambeau on an off day or in the offseason.

Our city is so proud of our awesome Milwaukee Brewers, what a great season they had! They may not have made it all the way to the World Series, but they sure made October in Milwaukee fun and exciting! Best of luck to the Boston Red Sox and the LA Dodgers as they meet up in the World Series; true baseball fans might still want to check out the TV schedule. But those of us who feel like it’s no fun since the Brew Crew is out, let’s get together and remember a great season and remind ourselves: there’s always next year!
