Eastcastle Place Senior Living Community Welcomes 2021 with COVID-19 Vaccine
2021 was off to a great start at Eastcastle Place in Milwaukee. Residents and staff at the senior living community were among the first individuals in the area to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. On January 6th, residents in assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation, and skilled care received their first dose of the vaccine in the on-site clinic. Staff members from throughout the community were also able to be vaccinated. The second vaccination date is scheduled to be February 3rd. As people receive their second doses, independent living residents will also have the opportunity to be vaccinated for the first time.
“This has been a challenging 10 months, and we’ve worked hard at keeping COVID-19 at bay and our residents safe,” said Tyler Gudex, executive director of Eastcastle Place retirement living. “Not only are they the most vulnerable demographic, but we’re also concerned about having had to suspend visitors, group activities, and dining in the interest of social distancing. Being vaccinated against this virus is the light at the end of the tunnel, and we’re very much looking forward to that.”
Gudex added that as the residents are being vaccinated, the staff is being encouraged to do so as well. “So much of what our team has done over the past months has been in the interest of maintaining the well-being of our residents. We value the great care and service our staff has provided. By getting vaccinated, they’re protecting themselves, and they’ve certainly earned that opportunity.”
