Living the Lake Life
The word “Milwaukee” is thought to mean Good Land in Algonquian. What makes this land so good? Its proximity to water. Lake Michigan forms our majestic third coast to our east, and the beautiful Milwaukee River runs through downtown. The best way to take advantage of the water is, of course, by boat.
Without question, Milwaukee boasts many local boating opportunities. Gather your friends and hit the water on a pontoon boat! Riverwalk Boat Tours makes a self-captained pontoon available if you have an experienced boater to do the driving. For non-sailors, a chartered cruise with a captain to steer clear of storms and obstacles is the way to go.
MKE Boat has tons of fun in store on board their double-decker vessels, The Vista King and Voyager. Sightseeing cruises, cocktail cruises, and the popular Friday and Saturday night live music cruises guarantee a great time.
Edelweiss Boats has something for everyone. Options include a historic cruise with an expert guide, a Fiesta dinner, or a City Skyline Cruise. Special upcoming events on an Edelweiss Boat include Dinner with a View with local celebrity chef Adam Pawlak. Eastcastle Place staff, residents, and prospective residents have enjoyed a lovely friendraiser event on Edelweiss Boat’s Harbor Lady. The party featured our friend, historian John Gurda, who talked about the history of Milwaukee along the Milwaukee River.
In addition to cruises, which offer a fun way to take in our city’s beautiful waterfront, there are also opportunities for kayaking through Milwaukee Kayak.
Veterans Park Swan Boats are a unique and colorful way to enjoy the water. They even have LED illuminated nighttime rides.
The residents of Eastcastle Place senior living community in Milwaukee are fortunate to have easy access to boating opportunities. Furthermore, our close proximity to the lake allows us to enjoy the view of boaters and the marina easily. Late last month, we were able to watch practice for Milwaukee’s Air and Water Show.
A day of boating is a beautiful thing in our beautiful city known as the Good Land.
