Bucks, Brewers, Beer Gardens and More
What a difference a year makes! Last summer’s isolation and stress have been replaced this year with happiness, hoop-la and having a ball…literally as the Milwaukee Bucks are playing in the NBA finals for the first time in 47 years and the Milwaukee Brewers are currently in first place. Summer 2021 is bringing welcome sights: parks filled with people, children on playgrounds, and of course, beer gardens.
As we speak, Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks against the Phoenix Suns in a best-of-seven series. Games one and two did not go our way, but we shook it off and moved on.
Whether the team plays in the Fiserv Forum or in Phoenix, downtown Milwaukee is electric on game days. The Deer District is home to restaurants, bars, food trucks and a huge screen showing all the action. Getting a coveted seat in one of the eateries requires a very early arrival time (think at least three hours ahead of game time). If standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a massive crowd isn’t your thing, we’ve got a great alternative. At Eastcastle Place, our big screen might not be as big as the Deer District, but our spirit is huge! We’re bringing you all the basketball excitement and none of the hassle. So, grab your Fear the Deer gear and join your Eastcastle Place friends in Lindsay Hall to watch every game. We even got some great television coverage of our spirit.
Across town at American Family Field (formerly known as Miller Park), Christian Yelich and the rest of the Brew Crew hope to follow the Milwaukee trend and hold on to their first-place status long enough to earn a spot in the playoffs. Come for the baseball, stay for the Sausage Race.
Nothing says summer in Milwaukee quite like a beer garden. Check out On Milwaukee’s list of both permanent and traveling beer gardens. From Bayside to Butler and from West Allis to Whitefish Bay, 1840 Brewing Company will take its traveling beer garden to neighborhood parks where food, fun, live music and a variety of brews are on tap. Elevate your beer garden game with a visit to the Pabst Mansion’s beer garden every Thursday- Monday noon- 6:00.
Calling all Festival Fans! While a few festivals are canceled again this year (we’ll see you in 2022, Milwaukee Air and Water Show and Cedarburg Strawberry Festival), some are still happening. Click to learn more about Croatian Fest on July 17 at Croatian Park in Franklin and Irish Fest on August 20-22 at the Summerfest grounds.
The big daddy of all the festivals, Summerfest (September 2-4, 9-11, 16-18) and everyone’s favorite Wisconsin State Fair (August 5-15), will return later in the summer. Stay tuned for our August post which will share information on the ins and outs of these favorite Milwaukee events. In the meantime, grab a summer beverage and get outside. Use your good judgment and wear a mask when necessary. Slather on the appropriate SPF, of course. Go, Bucks, Go Brewers and let’s go have some summer fun!
